Hey y'all, look at this! It's digital!!!! :excited: Now some of you heard that I got my Cintiq, right? Well, I bet you didn't hear that my cousin got me Photoshop CS3 this morning, as well :D I'm extremely excited about all this, as you can imagine. But, even Cintiqs take getting used to, plus I'm waiting for a glove (Smudgeguard, anyone else heard of those?) to come in the mail so that my hand can get a little more comfy =p But so far it's pretty rockin', even if I'm not the best at art. Oh, and I don't want to hear anyone talking trash to me saying I'm too untalented to even come close to deserving it, whoever does, your comment's hidden. And possibly, even a big fat block slap. :X

Okay, so the sketch: it's my first piece to be uploaded up here showing any of my ideas. This is one of my favorites, my baby. Not to mention my most developed species, even more than the creatures I created when I was in second grade. (first year of real creature design)
They're called "Slufa" pronounced "sloo-FUH". A very friendly and cuddly species, the Common Slufa grows to be roughly the size of an adult Crested Gecko. They live their lives in any type of fur they can find, no matter how short it is, nor the danger/predator level. Slufa are extremely intelligent and cunning, they have taught themselves to speak and understand nearly each and every (species) language, excluding human, and can mimic almost any noise. They have a great way of talking, and won't take no for an answer when it comes to "home shopping". They also live in a symbiotic relationship with their 'host', and can even become life time friends. They like to clean every inch of the home's body, eating insects and fending off disease, while the host provides a fun little jungle to live in, and occasionally even food. (they eat a wide variety of food, their favorites being meat, fruit, and insects)
Anatomy-wise, they have a sloping head, as you can see here, a porcupine-like nose, giant fluffy mane that frames the face, travels down the chest and over the back to the rump, visiting the shoulders and hips, and then circles around the base the tail where the clumpy fluff ends. Their fur is very thick and luxurious, and their babies will actually cling onto the parents' fur, practically living in their fur. The tail ends in a curl, and only few have seen what lies at the tip, even when they grip onto things with their prehensile tail the tip stays curled. In the torso/limb region, they look a lot like a gecko, considering they're an arboreal species. Slufa paws have semi-opposable thumbs on all four, and sticky pads on each finger. And, they have wings, that retract into their backs when not being used. The wings can vary greatly, from dragon/bat-like, feathered, insect, butterfly, to moth.
They still have fur on patches void of their poofy manes.
Color-wise, they tend to have a more natural tone in the mane, and a bright and loud color in the shorter fur, though they come in many color patterns and variations.
Slufa are also extremely popular as pets, and can come to be in very high demand.

Okay, I guess I can't say any more, I don't want to give you guys a giant wall of text. Expect to see a species ref sheet when I get better at this. Oh and by the way, I'm having trouble with their anatomy, if you want to try to draw out what you think their bodies look like from the description, go right ahead, I'd love some help with this. : )
